WHAT IS BLASTOCYST CULTURE

Growing Stronger Embryos, Day by Day

Allowing embryos to develop further in the lab before transfer.

This refers to embryos being allowed to grow until day 5 in the incubator, where they become a blastocyst.

Extended Development

Growing embryos to day 5, rather than transferring earlier, gives your embryology team more information about which embryos are developing well.

Grading Before Transfer

Blastocysts are graded before a decision is made on fresh or frozen transfer.

Nothing Goes to Waste

Any extra blastocysts are stored for future use, not discarded.

HOW IT WORKS

How Blastocyst Culture Works

1
Extended Incubation
Fertilised embryos are allowed to grow in the incubator until day 5, becoming blastocysts.
2
Grading
Blastocysts are graded by your embryology team.
3
Fresh Transfer or Freezing
Graded blastocysts are either transferred as a fresh transfer, or frozen for a frozen transfer at a later date.
4
Careful Transfer Numbers
No more than two blastocysts are implanted at a single transfer.
5
Stored for the Future
Any excess blastocysts are always stored for future use.
